NEWMAN SCHOOL CODE OF PRACTICE FOR
RESPONSIBLE COMPUTER AND INTERNET USE
We use the school computers and Internet connection for learning. These
rules will help us to be fair to others and keep everyone safe.
- I will only use the Internet when and where I have permission and
when an adult is in the teaching area.
- I will not look at or delete other peoples’ files or Emails. I will not
use other peoples’ Internet profiles
- I will not use floppy disks or CD ROMs on school computers
without permission. I will not make illegal copies of music or
computer CDs.
- I will only Email people I know, or whom my teacher has
approved.
- The messages I send will be polite and sensible.
- When sending Email, I will not give my home address or phone
number, or arrange to meet someone.
- I will ask for permission before opening an Email or an Email
attachment sent by someone I do not know.
- I will not use Internet chat rooms.
- If I see anything I am unhappy with or I receive messages I do not
like, I will tell a teacher immediately.
- When I experience a problem on the computer I will get help and
not try and fix it myself.
- I know that the school may check my computer files and may
monitor the Internet sites I visit.
- I understand that if I deliberately break these rules, I could be
stopped from using the Internet or computers.
